All aboard the bandwagon

About this time of year you can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone who just uttered some variation of the phrase "I'm SO ready for summer!" If you live in the Midwest you're even more likely to hear such a sentiment as you trudge your way through ice covered roads and parking lots rimmed with mountainous snow drifts. So get ready to swing away…

I'm ready for summer! I need to get some sunshine so looking in the mirror doesn't remind me of an undercooked chicken on those rare occasions when I actually shed a few layers of thermal clothing. And it sure would be nice to breathe some air that isn't being dustily coughed from a metal grate in the floor.

One of the best parts of summer for me is the opportunity to break free of my shoe shackles and go barefoot! That's just one of life's little pleasures that I'm sad to say can't be enjoyed from about late October until early May or so. Don't get me wrong, I love my knee-high rainbow socks as much as the next girl, but there's just something visceral about the feel of wet grass and scratchy concrete under your feet. It brings out the hippie in me! I'm so anxious that I might have to invest in some Five Finger shoes to get ready :)

Wash your feet after you walk around outside. You never know where the ground has been.
