Knock, knock. Who’s there? No one interesting, apparently.

Is it so much to ask for everyone to entertain me when I'm looking for a distraction?  I know there are social media addicts out there, so why can't I find anything remotely amusing for most of the day? When I'm stone bored with all the perfunctory day-to-dayness of it all I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect some interesting anecdotes, trivia tidbits, or an occasional blonde joke. I, for one, would like to know how many it takes to screw in a light bulb.

All aboard the bandwagon

About this time of year you can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone who just uttered some variation of the phrase "I'm SO ready for summer!" If you live in the Midwest you're even more likely to hear such a sentiment as you trudge your way through ice covered roads and parking lots rimmed with mountainous snow drifts. So get ready to swing away…

I'm ready for summer! I need to get some sunshine so looking in the mirror doesn't remind me of an undercooked chicken on those rare occasions when I actually shed a few layers of thermal clothing. And it sure would be nice to breathe some air that isn't being dustily coughed from a metal grate in the floor.

One of the best parts of summer for me is the opportunity to break free of my shoe shackles and go barefoot! That's just one of life's little pleasures that I'm sad to say can't be enjoyed from about late October until early May or so. Don't get me wrong, I love my knee-high rainbow socks as much as the next girl, but there's just something visceral about the feel of wet grass and scratchy concrete under your feet. It brings out the hippie in me! I'm so anxious that I might have to invest in some Five Finger shoes to get ready :)

New Projects

Very excited this week! We've been recording a lot lately and we released a new song last night called "Red Shoes". It's a fun little ditty that came together in one evening. Silly and catchy, we hope it's memorable enough to get some more fans.

I also decided to start selling my photo prints at Imagekind. I've thought about doing this in the past but just never got around to it. I don't know if I'll get many sales, but I have to start somewhere!

Hopefully the creative juices will continue to flow and we'll have more projects coming soon.

My latest painting

This was inspired by compartmentalized Japanese lunch box meals called bento that I have recently become enthralled with.  Bento lunches are carefully and painstakingly prepared with aesthetics in mind and are truly an art form in themselves.  I really wanted this painting to reflect the preciseness and simplistic beauty with which these meals are created.

John's educational journey begins...

Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism.

Cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-changes

I'm considering transforming this blog into a venue for my adventures in photography. I've been taking a lot more food photos lately and I think I'd like to start updating this blog more frequently. More to come soon!

Another Photo Published!

Okay, so I didn't get paid for it, and maybe not a whole lot of people will see it. But so what! I'll take what I can get :) Take a look!
